Day One Thousand and Seventy

Wednesday 29th July 2015 ~ Today started with a game of cards and some Thomas books, read splendidly with all the different voices by Uncle Phoy...
...and Uncle Ellis too
After lunch we went ten pin bowling. I rolled the balls down a pink dragon, which I also liked using as a slide!
After that, I went on a cycle with Nini and sang her a song too
I had another big bounce on the trampoline...

...and an icrecream
When we got back to the lodge, I had lots of fun playing a silly game called crossy road with Uncle Ellis. People kept going splat!
Before bed, we went for a ride on a peddle boat on the lake...
...and then Mummy and I jumped in a little pink electric boat, which I got to steer...
...peekaboo! We had a great time boating around the lake. At one point, which got stuck and Mummy had to put her leg in the water to get us moving again...
...and then it started raining. A lot. So we put up our hoods and headed for the jetty. It was straight back to the lodge for a warm bath and my pyjamas

Day One Thousand and Sixty-Nine

Tuesday 28th July 2015 ~ Today, I fancied a little bit of culture, but it turned out Daddy wasn't prepared to drive all the way back to France so I settled for Aachen in Germany instead. It was still a long drive, but when we got there Nini and Mummy found an authentic German hostelry complete with a very friendly waiter. I tried some sauerbraten (pickled roast beef) and had some apfelschorle (fizzy apple juice) and they were both delicious.
Once we were all fed, we hit the town. First stop, a sweet shop that sold 45 different types of liquorish!
Next, it was time for the serious bit, the culture: Aachen Cathedral. Built in 796 and home to the bones of Charlemagne the Great (an ancient king), it looked pretty ordinary from the outside.
But inside, it was fantastic, covered in amazing mosaics and beautiful details. It made me feel a little overwhelmed.
I mean, look at it, amazing, right?
All in all I felt pretty pleased with this taste of German culture.
Although I think having Nini as a tour guide was probably a big part of the fun..
I mean, who else plays hide and seek in a cathedral?

Day One Thousand and Sixty-Eight

Monday 27th July 2015 ~ Today we went swimming...
...and it was really excellent. My favourite thing.
And don't I look gorgeous?
After swimming, Mummy, Daddy, Ira and I went for lunch in the Dome and I had fun looking at the turtles and fishes
Then it was back to the lodge for some fun with Uncle Ellis...
This much fun!
I was thinking that the day couldn't get any more exciting but then we all went out to play mini golf...
...I really quite enjoyed it
...and was quite good too!
Mummy and I had a bounce on the trampoline while Uncle Ellis and Phoy played air hockey and then it was time to go back for dinner and bed
Once I was asleep, my Mummy and Daddy cycled into Valkenswaard for dinner...
...It looks like they had a good time!

Day One Thousand and Sixty-Seven

Sunday 26th July 2015 ~ Today the sun came out so after breakfast, we went down to the farm. I milked a cow... well, a wooden cow...
...and a rode on this tractor!
Then we all went on a trip to Kindersdijk, where we had a picnic and saw lots of windmills...
...there were nineteen of them
Nini held my hand and took me across the bridge to this windmill, where a mum and dad and thirteen children used to live
On the way, I tried on these giant clogs...
...and lots of people wanted to take my photo. Maybe they thought I was part of the attraction? Mummy said it was because I looked super cute
The windmill was still working
I've never seen a real windmill up close!
Nini took me around it...
...and then Mummy carried me around to see the others. It was a great day...
...and even time for me to have a quick rest in a giant clog before we jumped into the car and headed back to our holiday home
And tonight, Uncle Phoy read me my bedtime story

Day One Thousand and Sixty-Six

Saturday 25th July 2015 ~ This morning we had breakfast and a family of goats arrived. Mummy and I gave them some fruit and bread and they seemed quite happy. They weren't allowed in though
It was rainy and horrible but that didn't stop us going out. I put on my rain coat and wellies and went jumping in muddy puddles
We all hired bikes. Daddy got us a trailer and Mummy got a seat on the back of her bike for when the rain stopped. My brother and I got into the trailer...
...and we went for a cycle through the woods in the rain. We cycled to the swimming pool, which was amazing - there were slides and a pool with waves, a bit where you can swim outside and a pool with bubbles. Ira and I had a great time.
After our swim, we went into Eindhoven for a look around and a quick bite to eat...
...before going to the supermarket in Valkenswaard (near Centre Parcs), where we stocked up on food. I even had my own little trolley, which made me very happy
And before bed, Aunt Nini read me a bedtime story in my room

Day One Thousand and Sixty-Five

Friday 24th July 2015 ~ Today we got up very early and drove from our house to Dover. We drove onto a big ferry , which Mummy and Daddy said was sailing from Dover in England to Dunkirk in France. How exciting!
I watched as the ferry started to move across the channel and then my brother and I spent most of the journey playing in the ferry playground.
When we got to Dunkirk, it was another long drive to Centre Parcs in De Kempervennen, near Eindhoven in Holland...
...We were staying in a lodge in the woods and when we arrived, Aunt Nini, Uncle Ellis and Uncle Phoy were there already. We arrived just in time for dinner. It was so good to see everyone...
...and there was even time for a short puppet show before bed. I am so excited to be on holiday with everyone
